In Ancient Greece a city-state is a state formed by a city and its surrounding lands, it generally included numerous villages. In the colonies formed by the Greeks around the Mediterranean were also city-states. In Ancient Greece each city-state of Greece was independent, each city-state used different political systems, but there were also some that kept the same system of government for centuries. There were 3 different types of government, there was a Monarchy, Oligarchy and direct Government (democracy).

First of all, the Monarchy government consisted in a king or queen that ruled the government, in the monarchy many kings or queens claimed that the gods gave them the right to rule. The monarch’s son usually was the next ruler. In the Monarchy government the king or queen often had supreme power over everyone else.
Secondly, the Oligarchy government consisted in a group of citizens that ruled the government. In the Oligarchy government wealth or land ownership gave this group the right to rule the government, the ruling group ran the government for their own purpose and how ever they wanted.

Finally, the Direct government consisted in all the citizens taking part of the government, in the direct government citizenship was usually limited to adult males, but sometimes other restrictions applied. As in democracy the decisions were made by voting and of course the majority won. In ancient Greece democracy consisted in that citizens voted and the majority won, and the decision was made. Democracy is a government in which the citizens make political decisions either directly or through elected representatives. By helping tyrants rise to power, people in the lower classes realized they could influence government. In the Government the council of five hundred was made up of 500 men, 50 men from each of the 10 tribes. Politics shaped Greece today in many significant ways. Without politics our countries and states would be a big mess.

Love is composed of a single soul inhabiting two bodies:Aristotle
I choose this quote because it is significant to me. I like how it explains how love is something two people do together.
